Batman Slippers

I work in an elementary school and the winter time in our beautiful rainy country does not do allows the to the children to play in the garden. Then, I always must looks for activities to occupy the children.

Last week, on a rainy day, the children were incapable to play in the garden, I tried to amuse them thus while the request that they wanted as a gift of Nicholas of Saint.

The Belgian people - just like in Holland, Germany, France and some Countries of eastern Europe - famous and dedicates Nicholas of Saint (SinterKlaas) to the children. Nicholas of saint is the Big Customer of Ecoliers and penetrates in our houses December sixth.

A week before sixth decembre, every night, Nicholas of Saint brings soft in the slippers of good children (the traditional version) or a month before sixth decembre, it brings a lot more soft one in the slippers of our good children (this is the commercial version).

The commercial centers organize also the sectors of Nicholas of Saint that consist in to post scenes done the toys; as the train series simulating true positions or lodging a lot of old fashioned dolls. The children have also the occasion to meet Nicholas of Saint and communicates their wish list to him.

Fifth December Eve, the parents and the children dress the table of the dining room with a plate a lot of small cakes and a glass of milk for Nicholas of Saint, a carrot for his donkey.

Sixth December, of good morning, the glass is empty, the carrot was eaten, and there are only crumbs of small cakes. Not to worry, the parents should not eat these soft one and vegetables.

The table now is clothed with the dozens of toys, soft, the almond dough, the chocolate bars...

Nicholas of saint has a companion: Father Fouettard (Zwarte Piet or Black Pete) that punishes mean children.

The Belgian children receipts generally of the clothing and books to Christmas.

It appears that of the children have an inordinate passion for the consoles of video game, as the Playstation (3 of course) or WII... while the heroes of American comic strips become the heroes of Belgian children.

Here the toys that the childlike ones want to receive as a Nicholas of Saint or the gift of Christmas:

For the boys and the girls aged of 10 old years and more:

Themselves they received the console of video game already, they wish to receive video games, as Dragonball, the Fighter of Street, the Meddaille d'Honneur.. The young generation seems to like violent games.

The boys aged between 4 old years and 10:

- Jeep or Helicopter
- Tractor
- Batman
- Spiderman
- the incidental ones of hero of comic strip

The girls aged between 4 old years and 10:

- Barbie
- House of Doll
- Incidental of Doll
- Books

Certain of these children like the music and they asked Nicholas of Saint or to Father Christmas (sometimes the two) to bring them a guitar or an electric drums.

A romantic girl wishes to receive a newspaper as the one of Bridget Jones.

As for my fifteen old years son, it asked books. Which type of reserve? Ate Comical remains.

All children wish to receive: the chocolate, the almond dough, the candy, etc.

At last, the traditions are important for our children: no Nicholas of Saint and no Christmas without soft.
